ORDER IMPOSING SANCTIONS, REFERRING COUNSEL TO THE STATE BAR FOR INVESTIGATION, AND DENYING REQUEST TO CORRECT OPENING BRIEF On March 23, 2026, we entered an order to show cause why this court should not impose sanctions or refer attorney Michael Lin to the State Bar of Nevada for investigation for potential violations of the Nevada Rules of Appellate Procedure and Rules of Professional Responsibility, specifically his inclusion of fictional or misleading citations in his opening brief. In response to this order, Mr. Lin acknowledges the seriousness of the circumstances and requests to file a corrected opening brief. Having considered Mr. Lin's conduct and his response to the order to show cause, we impose the following sanction for violating NRAP 28(h) and NRAP 32(a)(9). Mr. Lin shall, within 14 days from the date of this order, pay $250 to the Supreme Court Law Library and provide this court with proof of payment. Further, as it appears that Mr. Lin's conduct may constitute violations of RPC 1.1 (competence), RPC 3.1 (meritorious claims and contentions), RPC 3.3 (candor toward the tribunal), and RPC 8.4 (misconduct), we refer Mr. Lin to the State Bar of Nevada for investigation pursuant to SCR 104 and 105.
